Our web alpha is live and growing fast; now we’re ready to ship first‑class mobile apps that feel native, polished, and delightful. If crafting buttery‑smooth gestures, playful micro‑animations, and instant load times for millions of users is your type of fun, you’ll love this role.
You’ll be on a lean team of four, owning everything from our development path, starting with Capacitor+Next.JS, and then when the time is right moving our most critical property to React Native. Owning the app store submission process on both platforms, and all the native code that compliments the business logic. You’ll collaborate tightly with design, web, and backend to deliver a mobile experience that feels “born‑native,” supports rapid feature iteration, and scales to hundreds of thousands of daily photos, videos and messages.
What You’ll Do
Chart our mobile architecture—pick the right RN navigation, state, animation, and testing stacks; define patterns that future hires will follow.
Lead the Capacitor+NextJS → React Native migration with phased releases that avoid disrupting existing users. A big and critical project!
Implement subtle UI touches—gesture‑driven interactions, haptic feedback, and micro‑animations using Reanimated/Motion, Lottie, or native modules.
Ship features end‑to‑end every sprint
Minimum Qualifications
Excitement for shipping mobile in production (iOS & Android stores) and handling push notifications, camera and more natively.
Advanced usage of AI tools to force multiple your knowledge: we are very bullish on AI augmentation and have a great company culture for it, we also can get you up to speed if thats required
Deep fluency in one major programming language, and at least conversant in one of the mobile native languages (Swift or Kotlin)
Comfort with serverless backends (Next.JS, Node, Prisma, Vercel) and REST/GraphQL API integration - or able to learn about them fast.
Startup‑stage grit: thrive on ambiguity, bias to action, and willingness to pick up unfamiliar tech fast. We go fast.
Nice‑to‑Haves
Experience crafting animation‑rich UIs using Reanimated 2/3, Gesture Handler, or similar.
A portfolio of open‑source contributions, technical writing, or conference talks on mobile engineering or UI/UX.
Background in privacy‑focused consumer products or decentralized social platforms.
First 90 Days
Handle our app store listings and implement best practices across the build and deploy pipeline.
Ship the first React Native screen (camera or story viewer) to production behind a feature flag.
Benchmark & tune startup time, TTI, and memory on mid‑tier Android devices.
Integrate crash + perf telemetry (Sentry, Expo Updates, self‑hosted if needed).
Mentor the web team on cross‑platform best practices.
Compensation
Meaningful early‑stage equity plus a competitive cash package, tailored to expertise and location. We are a globally distributed team so you can be anywhere, but willingness to travel for meetups is important. Ideal for nomads, but could work for traditional folks just as well.
