The Opportunity
We’re looking for a multi-talented Designer with refined taste and executional excellence across product design, motion design, and visual direction. You’ll help shape the entire user experience—from clean UI and delightful microinteractions to resonant brand moments.
You’ll work closely with a co-founder with backgrounds in design and branding, and become a core contributor to the UI and brand of a social media platform with the potential to reach billions. This is a fast-paced, creatively charged startup environment where we learn and adapt in real time. We’re looking for someone who thrives in that.
Responsibilities
Design and iterate on mobile app UX, UI, and product flows in Figma alongside the design team
Create expressive, high-end 2D and 3D animations for product and/or brand
Contribute to visual identity and storytelling—brand guidelines, design systems, website, and more
Design occasional marketing and commercial materials in collaboration with the growth/marketing team
Actively participate in product shaping—bringing input across UX, branding, and narrative
Requirements
A strong portfolio showing high-end, emotionally resonant work across UI, motion, and brand
Deep visual instinct and attention to detail
Highly proficient in Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects (or equivalent tools for animation)
Bonus: Experience with Lottie, Jitter, Blender, Framer, Rive, or other motion/3D/prototyping tools
Comfortable across the design stack: from clean UI to expressive interactions and art direction
AI-fluent: You creatively leverage tools like ChatGPT, Midjourney, and other generative platforms to ideate, iterate, and execute
Excellent communicator, async-first, fluent in English (written and spoken)
Collaborative and kind: you care about healthy team culture, shared learning, and helping others grow
Mission-aligned: You resonate deeply with Authentic’s vision of meaningful connection and human-first social design
No degree required — just craft, curiosity, and character
Remote-friendly, with openness to occasional travel
Nice to Haves
Deep understanding of Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines and Google’s Material Design
Ability to design and maintain cross-platform design systems in Figma
Skilled at designing native-feeling animations, transitions, and gestures
Fluency in multiple languages and/or familiarity with various cultures to better engage with a global community
Experience designing for social or consumer apps
Multidisciplinary and strategic approach to UX and brand with a strong grasp of user psychology and storytelling
Trial First
We start with a 2-week paid trial period (can be extended) to get hands-on and see if we’re a good match.
Compensation
Competitive and negotiable rates—we’re most focused on finding the right teammate for the long term
Flexible structures: contract, part-time, or full-time
Long-term roles can include equity or performance-based incentives
